BirthWays offers 3 classes to help prepare you for labor and birth.

Childbirth Preparation Series (7-weeks)

The Childbirth Preparation Series is designed to teach the skills and information to birth confidently and calmly with a minimal medical interventions. The focus in this class is to equip birthing parents and birth partners with the information and skills needed to eliminate fear and experience an empowering birth whatever their choices or circumstances.

Baby bonding and postpartum recovery are lightly covered, but the Newborn Care, and CPR classes are recommended to complete the skills and information needed to be fully prepared. Breastfeeding class is included in the 7 week series.

Topics include:

  • Stages, phases, and anatomy of labor
  • Techniques and comfort measures for the physical and emotional experience of labor including breathing techniques, mental calming methods and relaxation tools
  • Common hospital protocols, procedures, and alternatives
  • Creating the birth support team and writing birth plans
  • Maximizing, enhancing and highlighting the partner's role
  • Medical interventions including pain medications, emergency complications, cesareans, and making informed choices
  • Postpartum care and medical procedures for baby and mom
  • Support systems and Community Resources

Childbirth Preparation Intensive (2-part)

This two day intensive is designed to teach the skills and information to birth confidently and calmly with a minimal medical interventions. The focus in this class is to equip birthing parents and birth partners with the information and skills needed to eliminate fear and experience an empowering birth whatever their choices or circumstances.

Childbirth Comfort Measures and Refresher Class:

This class is meant to supplement a hospital based childbirth preparation class or taken by second time parents. Learn or review key techniques to help you during labor and birth, such as relaxation, comfort measures, massage, and more.

Description:

This 3-hour class is designed to review and also cover additional techniques to help you during labor and birth. It will cover relaxation, comfort measures, massage, use of birth balls, breathing and other coping techniques. Learn first hand tips from a doula and childbirth educator about what works to help you in the birth of your baby. This a great class for parents-to-be who are wanting more hands on practice or are having their second baby and would like a refresher.

This is NOT intended to replace the knowledge gained from a regular childbirth class series, especially if you are expecting your first child.

$125 per couple.
